Define the problem

One of the global goals of sustainable development is quality education as a foundation for the overall improvement of life. The selection of high school and faculty plays an important role in this regard. Young people facing this choice often lack important information or the available information is scattered and unrelated. They also have the impression that important information often come too late. There are, therefore, difficulties in creating a "bigger picture", young people often do not know what is offered, what awaits them and whether their choice is at all in line with their abilities, desires and interests.

Which groups of people are affected by this problem?

This problem mainly affects young people aged 13-15 and 17-19, but adults should, if they are not already, be aware of the importance of lifelong learning and possible retraining.

Who is responsible for this problem?

Responsibility for this rests to some extent with the education system, which often lags behind the changes that are taking place on the global level and does not follow them adequately. Furthermore, teachers, pedagogues, psychologists and other professionals , as well as parents should pay more attention to a more systematic professional guidance. Young people are also partly responsible because they often expect someone else to do something for them, they lack initiative and are not yet aware of what it means to "stand up for yourself", in a healthy and fair way, cultivate teamwork and help each other.

How big is the problem?

There si often an impression that a significant portion of high-school students does not like school. This is a complex problem that needs to be viewed from several points of view, one certainly being the choice, the problem that we want to deal with more systematically and propose a solution at the local level, which could hopefully serve in a broader context. Many young people give up studying and again one of the reasons is definitely the choice. All of the above points to the need for a change, a right, concrete, constructive change in the approach to learning and teaching, and not only by changing the subject curriculum. Young people need the support of the whole society; they need a concrete confirmation that those who deal with them really care. If, the Decision on enrolling the students in the 1st grade of high school in the school year 2022/2023 envisages the total number of 46 377 enrolled students in 2113 classes and if 28919 high-school graduates take the school-leaving exam this year, then the numbers tell us enough about the importance of the problem.

What is blocking the current solution of the problem?

The main problem is in the communication and cooperation between primary schools and high schools and between high schools and colleges. They often act in incoherent and unsynchronized manner. They primarily lack good will and a more innovative, comprehensive approach to enrolment policy, which is primarily about information.

Why did you choose this problem, and why is it important to solve it?

Hence, it would be more practical to have information on continuation of education in one place, at least at the local level. It would be easier to compare certain educational profiles, so there would certainly be fewer "missed choices", and then more satisfied and motivated young people who are more willing to invest in improving their professional status, and thus improving society in general. Perhaps the whole story could include local authorities who would point out which professions are missing, which may be awarded scholarships, so this information would certainly contribute to different enrolment statistics.

How does the chatbot solve this problem?

Young people who are currently in the system of secondary education offer through chatbots a lot of valuable information in one place and in an indirect and unobtrusive, and at the same time modern and interesting way they pass on positive experiences to young people and direct them. They have already climbed a few steps on the educational ladder, so their horizons are wider. They also share the experiences of older colleagues, those who are already studying and whose positive examples, in a way, they follow. They point out to some important details, to encouraging curiosities that could be overlooked by those classic searches, and thus nurture the culture of innovation and sharing. Chatbot offers a wide range of possibilities and will surely satisfy different interests, ambitions and desires.
