Define the problem

The aim of our project is to solve problems related to the
conservation of indigenous and wild species in Lonjsko polje. Introducing
visitors to endangered species and their numbers and protection against
extinction.

UN goals

The goals of the UN number 15 are:

By 2030, fight desertification, restore degraded land and
soil, including land affected by desertification, drought and floods, and
strive to achieve a world neutral by land degradation.

Promote fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out
of the utilization of genetic resources and promote appropriate access to such
resources, as agreed internationally. Take urgent measures to stop poaching and
trafficking protected species of flora and fauna and addressing the demand
and supply of illegal wildlife products. Mobilize and significantly increase
funding from all sources for the conservation and sustainable use of
biodiversity and ecosystems.

Which groups of people are affected by this problem?

This problem mainly affects the surrounding population, but
indirectly also the population of a large part of our country. Namely, the
river Lonja, which flows through Lonjsko polje, is rich in numerous fish
species that feed the local population, and it flows into the river Sava, which
for most of its course passes through central Croatia (Slavonia). The local
community is gaining in importance for the protection of flora and fauna of
this park. If there are negative consequences, it can negatively affect people
who work in tourism.

Who is responsible for this problem?

Unconscious visitors to the nature park are responsible for
this problem, but also the local population. In addition to the human factor, a
major problem is climate change, which affects changes in habitats and
temperatures to which certain animals do not have a developed adaptation.

How big is the problem?

The problem is big because the extinction of certain species
disrupts the entire ecosystem. Disruption of the ecosystem loses the balance of
species and reduces biodiversity. Biodiversity change affects the food chain,
but also forces the local population to change the activity in which they are
engaged.

What is blocking the current solution of the problem?

We believe that it is important to protect natural areas such as the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park by informing about endangered species that live there, and there are many problems along the way.

It is estimated that nature in Croatia is endangered mainly due to human activity, which is
manifested in the modification of natural ecosystems, the use of biological
resources and pollution.

Dam and water management / use and other ecosystem modifications, wastewater from agriculture, forestry and municipal wastewater, and the construction of residential and urban areas are problematic.

Human activities mostly result in habitat loss and degradation. By banning these activities in this protected area, we are trying to protect the biodiversity of the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park.

Why did you choose this problem, and why is it important to solve it?

We chose this problem because it is a nature park located near our school.

It is important to address it because human negligence can cause species extinction and a major change in the appearance of the park.

How does the chatbot solve this problem?

In fact, chatbot does not solve this problem because it is not a living person. Chatbot has the function of advising or informing people.
So people apply that information and helpful advice.
