Define the problem

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is based on the well-known 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The goal of the Program is to achieve social, economic and environmental sustainable development at the world level by 2030. How could elementary school children better understand what exactly this means? How could we, by approaching each topic, encourage people, both students and average citizens, to act in accordance with the given goals? The goals are global, so we often don't think they concern us personally, but some politicians and people far away from us. But is that really so? How much can each of us contribute anyway?

Which groups of people are affected by this problem?

This is actually a global problem, which needs everyone's participation to drive change. However, here we have focused our solution on students and average citizens, who need the simplification of the global goals to the level of their daily lives to be able to react.

Who is responsible for this problem?

Many websites provide detailed interpretations of each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. However, it is the responsibility of everyone who understands them, to convey them with simpler examples to children and the general population so that everyone can contribute, even if it's small changes.

How big is the problem?

The problem of sustainable development of
the planet Earth is very big. The goals are set as a way to a solution, and the
problem of understanding these goals is, not so big, but also significant. Why
goals if we don't all understand them?

What is blocking the current solution of the problem?

We just more education, practical examples and simple activities.

Why did you choose this problem, and why is it important to solve it?

Chatbot Održivko helps to explain the goals of sustainable development in a simple way. Most users will not know that the goals are separated into three groups - society, economy and environment, and this is important to learn. Within each group there is a series of goals that Održivko does not list, but from the description of each formulates some simple advice for everyday life. Each time this Chatbot is used again, after the user has selected a group/category, the bot gives another (random) piece of advice, 17 in total, which aim to help achieve the goals of the UN by changing the daily behavior of students and citizens.

How does the chatbot solve this problem?

Chatbot Održivko is already adapted by its name and design to younger students or citizens who do not want to study the Sustainable Development Goals in detail, but are interested in how to include them in their lives. Simply put, how to do something good for the future of your planet and society. It offers advice that anyone can easily follow. It is not boring because with each use it gives another suggestion to improve our behavior. It serves simple users, on an everyday level, but contributes to the permanent and global good.
